Distributed Wind Resource Assessment: State of the Industry
Date: 6/9/2016
Researchers at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) hosted a stakeholder workshop in June 2015, following the Small Wind Installers Workshop in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, to solicit insight on the wind resource assessment practices of the distributed wind industry. Distributed wind resource assessment can have a direct impact on the Energy Department's Wind Program goals of maximizing stakeholder confidence in turbine performance and safety as well as reducing the levelized cost of energy. A new NREL report, Distributed Wind Resource Assessment: State of the Industry, summarizes the findings of the workshop and survey and prioritizes R&D challenges that, if solved, will provide a high return on investment for the distributed wind industry.
