Pyramid Technologies, LLC Lands $125K Navy Contract

Credits US Federal Contractor Registration With Helping It Win First Contract

PROVIDENCE FORGE, VA--(Marketwired - June 03, 2016) -  US Federal Contractor Registration is pleased to announce that Pyramid Technologies, LLC last week landed a $125,000, one-year contract with the Navy to provide propane to several Navy sites in Maryland and Virginia.

/ -- This one-year contract is the first Pyramid Technologies -- a logistics and IT company -- has won since becoming registered in the System for Award Management, though it has worked as a subcontractor with prime contracts on several projects over the past few years.

"Subcontracting allowed us to get our feet wet so to speak and prove what we're capable of delivering," said Pyramid Technologies Principal and CEO Herb Jones. "It also helped us gain necessary past performance, which a procurement officer wants to see when awarding contracts."

Jones, a retired US Army logistics and acquisition officer, has experience with federal contracts and the contracting process from the government perspective. Since his retirement, he has been on the other side of the process so winning contracts was uncharted waters. Only after working with US Federal Contractor Registration -- first Rod Johnson, his acquisition specialist, and then John Wayne, his personal bid trainer -- did Jones get the tools and techniques he needed to identify, draft proposals for, and successfully bid on contracts.

"I'll be honest -- this was a new ballgame for me, and it's all thanks to US Federal Contractor Registration, especially John Wayne, that I not only won this contract but am confident that there will be others awarded to us in the future," said Jones. "John is a godsend. He possesses a great deal of knowledge and is willing to share and teach -- and he has the patience of Job."

Wayne is a senior acquisition specialist at US Federal Contractor Registration with more than six years of government contractor training experience, and also director of federal training, who has helped more than 10,000 owners of small businesses, non-profit organizations, and even federal agencies complete their System for Award Management (SAM) Registration as well as other specialized registrations (e.g., Women, Minority, Veteran, Service Disabled Veteran, 8A and HUBZone set-aside qualifications). Wayne works one-on-one with clients, as well as in group settings, and holds weekly conference calls where he goes through available contracts and spells out how he'd recommend a client fill out and submit the bid.

"It takes a lot of work to put together a bid proposal, and I've found that a lot of people need help putting together their first one or two bids," said Wayne. "Running through opportunities with clients who are actually interested in bidding on it means that I can help them fill out the entire bid proposal and make sure that they don't leave out any essential information in the process."

Herb Jones added: "John is just a wealth of knowledge, and if you don't understand how it all works together, then you can easily be overwhelmed. He helps put things in perspective and can save you a lot of time just by helping you focus on the parts of the bid notification that are the most important."

Jones, for his part, is hopeful that this one-year contract becomes a year-to-year contract, and is already looking into other ways he can diversify his company and pursue contracts that are in line with his experience if not his company's actual business plan.

"My logistics experience, 30 years in the military, and familiarity with wholesale fuel delivery helped me land this contract, and I'm sure this same experience will help me land others in the future," said Jones. "But I'm not just going to bid on every contract that comes my way. I'm going to be selective and pick contracts that I know beyond a shadow of a doubt that I can fulfill and competitively bid on."

As for Johnson, Jones said that he helped him understand how to become a government contractor, made sure that he was set up accurately and completely in the System for Award Management, and kept him informed every step of the way.

"There are a lot of companies out there that offer services similar to what we offer, but we offer the whole package," said Eric Knellinger, president of US Federal Contractor Registration. "We get our clients registered in the System for Award Management, make sure they're set up to succeed as government contractors, and help them put together contract-winning bids."

US Federal Contractor Registration is the world's largest third-party government registration firm. It helps clients complete the System for Award Management (SAM) Registration, develop winning bid strategies, and succeed as government contractors. In 2015, USFCR clients earned nearly $2 billion in government contracts.
