HPV Cancer Causing Strains Can be Transmitted Through Oral Sex; The CBCD Reviews the Medical Evidence

A report by two oncologists online warns that oral cancer causing strains of HPV can be transmitted through oral sex. (1)

“Infected with the human papillomavirus (HPV)? The CBCD recommends taking Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin.” - Greg Bennett, CBCD

Research shows that many oral cancers are caused by the HPV-16 strain of the human papillomavirus. As Dr. Meghal Sanghavi noted, “HPV, once transmitted, may not become active for years or may clear off from the body, but slowly becomes the prime cause of cancer. ‘Oral cancer is caused mostly by HPV 16 virus and easily affects an undernourished person whose immune system may have been compromised. Mostly people who indulge in oral and unsafe sex are at higher risk.’” (1) Dr. Sanghavi is a consultant oncology surgeon at the Wockhardt Hospitals.

Fox News also reports that the human papillomavirus (HPV) is linked to oral cancer. Dr. Jane Puskas said that “the research has shown that there is a relationship between HPV and cervical cancer and there is a similar relationship between HPV and oral cancers.” (2) How can you tell if a symptom in the mouth is worth a visit to the doctor? Dr. Puskas continued, suggesting that there are certain signs you should pay attention to. “It could be a sore spot on the gum, or cheek, or on your tongue. Is it a red patch? Is it a white patch? Is it an ulcer that's just not healing?” (2) The Fox report noted that “Most bumps or sores in the mouth are not cancer, but if you notice any changes in your oral health tell your dentist, especially if the problem doesn't go away.” (2)

Research shows that worldwide rates of oral HPV infection and resulting head and neck cancers are rising. (3) Dr. Forte and colleagues wrote in a study that “recently, human papillomavirus (HPV) infection has been causally associated with a subset of head and neck cancers, particularly oropharyngeal cancer.” (4) Dr. Forte and colleagues are from the Canadian Partnership Against Cancer.

The CBCD therefore recommends that anyone who suspects that they have an oral HPV infection talk to their doctors about Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin. The formula of these natural antiviral products was shown to safely and effectively reduce symptoms associated with HPV in two separate post-marketing clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines.

The formula of Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD in two clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines. The studies showed that the Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR formula is effective against the HPV and other viruses. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, “individuals infected with the HPV…reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with Gene-Eden-VIR.” (5) The study authors also wrote that “we observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms.” (5)

Both products can be ordered online on the Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin websites here:

Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin are natural antiviral dietary supplements. Their formula contains five natural ingredients: Selenium, Camellia Sinesis Extract, Quercetin, Cinnamomum Extract, and Licorice Extract. The first ingredient is a trace element, and the other four are plant extracts. Each ingredient and its dose was chosen through a scientific approach. Scientists at polyDNA, the company that invented and patented the formula, scanned thousands of scientific and medical papers published in various medical and scientific journals, and identified the safest and most effective natural ingredients against latent viruses.

To date, Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR are the only natural antiviral products on the market with published clinical studies that support their claims. Note: Novirin has the same formula as Gene-Eden-VIR. However, it contains higher quality and more expensive ingredients.

The CDC notes that “some studies suggest that oral HPV may be passed on during oral sex (from mouth-to-genital or mouth-to-anus contact) or open-mouthed (“French”) kissing, others have not. The likelihood of getting HPV from kissing or having oral sex with someone who has HPV is not known. We do know that partners who have been together a long time tend to share genital HPV-meaning they both may have it.” (6) Additionally, the CDC says that “there is no FDA-approved test to diagnose HPV in the mouth or throat. Medical and dental organizations do not recommend screening for oral HPV.” Thus, there is no way to know for sure if a person has an oral HPV infection unless the person develops genital warts in the mouth.

Are there treatments available against the HPV?

“There are no drugs approved against the HPV. Current treatments include procedures, such as cryotherapy, conization, and the Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP). These procedures use liquid nitrogen, a surgical knife (scalpel), a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser, or electrical current to remove the abnormal growths caused by the HPV. These growths include cells that harbor the active virus. The procedures do not target cells with the latent virus. Since they do not remove the latent virus, these procedures only produce a temporary remission.” (5) In contrast, Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR were designed to target the latent HPV.

“We recommend that individuals infected with the HPV virus take Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin.” - Greg Bennett, CBCD
