BBK Worldwide and Reading with TLC Team Up to Create Phonics-Based Literacy App

Massachusetts-Based, Women-Led Businesses to Bring Lively Letters Reading Program to Mobile

/EINPresswire.com/ -- BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - May 24, 2016) - BBK Worldwide, a leading technology and marketing firm with more than 30 years of healthcare communications experience, has been selected by Reading with TLC, developers of the internationally renowned Lively Letters reading program, to create the company's new mobile app to develop reading, spelling and speech skills. Reading with TLC has helped more than 15 million students and over 75,000 educators worldwide with reading-aid programs aimed at students in general education Pre-K through Grade 2 classrooms, as well as learners of all ages who have reading and learning challenges, including those with dyslexia or speech/language disorders and those learning English as a second language.

"One of our biggest challenges over the last several years is fulfilling the exploding demand for our product," said Nancy Alemian Telian, a nationally recognized speech and language pathologist and Reading with TLC's founding principal. "Delivering the Lively Letters program via mobile devices will simply get the power of our product into more schools and more students' hands." In 1990, along with her sister, Penny Alemian Castagnozzi, a longtime elementary educator, Telian began creating the Lively Letters arsenal of learning tools which tie in mouth cues, humorous stories, pictures, hand movements and music to help students better develop their phonemic awareness and phonics skills. In 1993, they also began offering professional development to help educators improve literacy skills.

The Lively Letters app, as developed by BBK Worldwide, will offer robust and adaptive functionality with an intuitive UI -- all based on the company's proven reading program. "Mobile learning is much more than making flash cards available on a mobile phone or tablet, and BBK understands that," said Castagnozzi. "To truly succeed, we need to raise the bar on educational apps; we must link proven, research-based strategies with high engagement activities, while also ensuring that students -- along with parents and educators -- are having fun."

"By combining BBK Worldwide's expertise in app development for patients and caregivers with Reading with TLC's deep experience with students and educators, we intend to deliver an app that extends far beyond what's available for learners today," said Erica Mercado, product innovation and development specialist at BBK Worldwide.

The Lively Letters app will be available in the iTunes App Store this summer.
