ISO Postpones SB 350 Meetings to Allow Time to Complete Studies

/EINPresswire.com/ -- FOLSOM, CA--(Marketwired - April 25, 2016) - The California Independent System Operator (ISO) has postponed stakeholder meetings on Senate Bill 350 preliminary study results, scheduled for Wednesday, April 27, and Thursday, April 28, 2016. Publication of the preliminary study results has also been postponed.

The postponement will allow consultants additional time to complete the studies and present findings. The studies are complex and interdependent, and the effort to create a regional energy market is incumbent on clear, comprehensive and accurate study results.

The studies are outlined in SB 350, the Clean Energy and Pollution Reduction Act, signed into law last year. The law establishes California's goal of reaching a 50 percent renewable portfolio standard by 2030. It also directs the ISO to complete studies to assess a regional grid's potential impacts to ratepayers, California's economy and workforce, the environment, disadvantaged communities, greenhouse gas emissions and the reliability and integration of renewable energy resources.

The ISO expects to reschedule the publication of the preliminary study results and the stakeholder meetings for late May or early June. The comment period will be adjusted to provide for thorough stakeholder review and input.

The preliminary study results will be published on the ISO website in advance of the meeting. Click here for more information on a regional energy market and to find the results when posted.
