/EINPresswire.com/ -- WAYNESBORO, VA--(Marketwired - April 25, 2016) -  Radium Incorporated (Radium) announced today it has been issued a patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office for a LED Work Light.

U.S. Patent No. 9,310,067 is titled "Systems, Devices and/or Methods for Managing Illumination" and comprises of 17 claims for mounting light emitting diodes in a transparent housing. 

"Traditional fluorescent work lights were breaking at a high rate during our maintenance operations at nuclear power plants costing down time and increased radiation exposure. We decided to develop a virtually unbreakable LED work light that was more than twice as bright as the lights we were using," said Cam Abernethy, Radium Incorporated President. "The waterproof capabilities of the light were just an added benefit from ruggedizing the design."

Radium produced a video detailing the advantages of their light vs. a competitor's light.

"Some of our customers are avid fisherman and said this would be a great night fishing light if we change the LEDs to a green color," said Abernethy. "We thought this was a great idea so we just launched the Predator Fishing Light product line."

Among other useful and innovative features, the patent highlights the following:

• A threaded shaft that extends through the center of the light that allows for attachment of various hanging devices, cameras, battery packs, etc. at each end.
• Another advantage of the threaded center shaft is the ability to place the light inline of vertical loads of 100's pounds.
• Light is DC powered and safe for confine spaces.
