LOS ANGELES, CA, USA, March 28, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- If you’re one of the many viewers still pining over the fact that the series "The Office" has left the airwaves, then Rockfield Productions’ new series "Beck and Call" is just the thing to make your comedy hungry heart sing (and laugh til your stomach hurts; but hey, laughter is the workout you’ve been looking for to get those abs in shape-- so it’s a win win).

The newest collaborative effort from Canadian polymath David Guthrie (“Cold Water Captains,” “Room and Bored,” “Curious and Unusual Deaths”), and Second City alumni Emma Louise Carter (“Scratched Vinyl,” “Just the Way It Is,” “The ABCs of Death 2”) and Amanda Pereira, who hosts the musical improv show “Roast Beats” and is part of the improv troupe Battle Silhouettes, “Beck and Call” is a mockumentary style comedy series you won’t want to miss.

The series follows Cassandra Beck (Carter) and Jamie Call (Pereira), two peppy female talent agents who are on a mission to represent the entertainment industry’s creme-de-la-creme. When these two “star makers” join forces and create the “Premium Talent Agency” with one goal in mind-- to be the top agency in ALL of Hollywood, everyone better watch out because these girls are going places, even if it means breaking a leg or two along the way.

Although Premium Talent Agency is on its fourth year and still being run out of Beck and Call’s shoe box of an apartment in Brooklyn, it’s really not an issue because they have one client on their roster that is going to change everything. She just happens to be a pug dog named Bella; but, human or not, she has the star power Hollywood producers are looking for.

Actor, comedian and producer for the Bad Dog Theatre, Ashley Comeau (“Degrassi: The Next Generation”), says, "‘Beck and Call’ is at our beck and call for fast laughs, great characters and a sharp look into the entertainment industry. A job well done to all of the cast, canine or otherwise!"

Thanks to the ridiculous egocentricity of the show’s characters, which are written and developed with the perfect dose of the attitude and delusions of grandeur that’s so stereotypical of Hollywood’s most sought after wannabees, the work room banter and behind the scenes gossip abounds.

Guthrie’s ingenious editing endows the show with perfect comedic timing. The way he cuts from the ‘day in the life’ routine happenings that go down in the office to one-on-one interviews with specific characters not only gives a deeper look into each character’s true colors and motivations, but it also creates a level of behind the scenes drama that keeps us on the edge of our seat. As an audience we know more about each character than they really know about each other; and that makes the show that much more fun to watch.

Guthrie explains, "Along with editing the show I am writing and directing it as well. It has been so much fun working with this group of extremely talented people and just making stuff that we want to make and not having to conform to anyone else's vision. And no network notes!!"

Guthrie also takes on the leading role of Cari, an Italian model biding his time as Premium Talent Agency’s receptionist until he hits the big time, which of course will be any day now-- otherwise he might think twice about throwing the agency’s client invoices into the rubbish bin rather than the filing cabinet.

In addition to directing, editing and acting in “Beck and Call” Guthrie, who has contributed his seasoned skill as an editor to major productions such as the Canadian Screen Award nominated series “Cold Water Captains,” the internationally acclaimed documentary “Jiro Dreams of Sushi” and others, is also developing the new series “Our BnB.”

The spin-off to “Room and Bored,” a comedy series that Guthrie developed, edited and earned international praise for when it was chosen as an Official Selection of the New York Television Festival where it won the Pitch Award in 2013, “Our BnB” follows two guys as they open up a room in their apartment on AirBnB.

More information about “Our BnB” to be disclosed at a later date. As for “Beck and Call,” the series is currently in development and is expected to start airing early next year.

About the new series, CEO of Reelstar Media Inc. Arlene Rimer says, "Refreshing, funny and promising... I look forward to seeing the series come to fruition."
