Oregon Ends State's Coal Use through Legislative Action

Oregon lawmakers recently passed SB 1547, new legislation titled "Elimination of Coal from Electricity Supply" that revises the state's renewable energy target to 50% by 2040 and requires utilities to cease coal purchasing by 2035. Lawmakers from both political parties voted for this bill, making Oregon the first state to end coal use through legislative action.
