New Author Challenges The Throne For Action Fantasy Writing With Brave Debut Novel
New author Thomas Childress is making a play for the High Table with the launch of his new Action Fantasy series of novels.
LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM, March 2, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- With the recent upsurge in Action Fantasy both across film and literature showing no sign of slowing, a new author is launching a series of books which looks set to challenge the establishment. Thomas Childress is a young author with a military background who seems to be bringing a more eclectic view to a genre which has shown signs of becoming too cozy with accepted tropes and familiar names.Just published by Mirador Publishing, a company who seem to be making a name for themselves in launching new authors, ‘Mercy for the Fallen’ twists the genre of traditional Action Fantasy and dares to push accepted boundaries. In this, the first of a series, Childress bravely treads his own path and creates worlds of wonder and action scenes to rival anything from the pens of George R.R. Martin or Robin Hobb.
“When growing up, I hated reading and writing with a passion. It was always presented to me as work, an obstacle to my fun,” said Childress. It was while he was serving in the Navy that his interest in writing was kindled and he started reading voraciously in order to learn his art from the masters. “I fell in love with writing,” he continued. “I realized that a person's imagination is more powerful than anything that can be put on a screen.”
Although still in its initial launch period, ‘Mercy for the Fallen’ is already finding favor with Action Fantasy fans and early reviews are unanimous in their praise.
“We were delighted to see this land on our desk,” said Sarah Luddington, Mirador’s Commissioning Editor. “It’s always exciting when somebody can bring a fresh eye to an established genre like this.”
Mercy for the Fallen is published by Mirador Publishing and is available in all good bookshops and online as both paperback and in all popular eBook formats.
