Winner of the One Month Startup Competition: LessAnalytics
LessAnalytics Bests 109 Competitors to Win $10,000 Cash Prize and Priceless Startup Advice From Experts at One Month and Y Combinator
/EINPresswire.com/ -- NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - February 23, 2016) - One Month, the first-ever online school for entrepreneurs, announced today the winner of its One Month Startup Competition, which ran from Jan 15 through Feb 15. LessAnalytics took home the top prize. The company's product automates the tedious parts of analytics data management and gives you a conversational way to interact with the data using an AI powered personal assistant.
The One Month Startup course and competition was designed to help entrepreneurs get their companies up and running in just 30 days. Judges included One Month founder Mattan Griffel, Y Combinator partner Kevin Hale, Product Hunt's Ben Tossell, Justin Mares, author of Traction, as well as six other entrepreneurs and experts in the tech space. As the winner, LessAnalytics receives a $10,000 cash prize, to be used to fund the startup's growth.
During the month, students competed to build their startup the fastest, including:
- Choosing an idea
- Building a prototype or website
- Incorporating your startup
- Building a team
- Getting users or customers
Judging criteria included the quality and uniqueness of the idea, marketability, progress made during the 30-day course, and quality and commitment of the team. As the equivalent of a final exam, participants were asked to prepare a mock Y Combinator application and submit a demo video (all submissions received feedback from the judges).
According to Griffel, the One Month Startup course sold out over 100 spots in just a few days. 25 of those companies turned in their mock YC applications at the end of the course for feedback and consideration for the cash prize. Many of the participants were working on consumer startups, ranging from online custom shoe design to a job-hunting app for millennials.
"We were really impressed with the quality of ideas across the board, and with each founder's commitment to turning their idea into a reality," said Griffel. "We deliberately kept the class on the small side so that we could solicit feedback on what entrepreneurs wanted to learn and work their issues into the curriculum. Overall it was a fantastic, driven and creative group. We'll definitely run the program again."
Justin Mares commented, "One Month Startup is a great option for the very early stage company that needs help building a foundation. We covered basics such as how to vet your idea, how to incorporate, and building a minimum viable product that gets customers excited. This is a great starting point for first-time entrepreneurs who don't know where to begin."
"When One Month Startup began, LessAnalytics was an untitled idea about simplifying analytics data management," said Sam Bowen, co-founder of LessAnalytics. "Today, LessAnalytics is a Python based app under active development. Layered on top of our recent progress is a marketing website that is earning customer signups, a growing social media following and experienced advisors. We're excited to take the company forward, and hope that down the line we can come back and contribute to a future One Month Startup, and to help other emerging companies get their start."
