OMA Reports a 7.8% Increase in January 2016 Passenger Traffic

MONTERREY, Mexico, Feb. 12, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mexican airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, S.A.B. de C.V., known as OMA (NASDAQ:OMAB) (BMV:OMA), reports that terminal passenger traffic at its 13 airports increased 7.8% in January 2016, as compared to January 2015. Domestic traffic increased 9.2%, and international traffic increased 1.1%.

Of total January traffic, 98.4% was commercial aviation and 1.6% was general aviation.

Domestic traffic increased in nine airports in January. The most noteworthy increases were in Monterrey (+7.1%; +33,232 passengers), Culiacán (+20.3%; +20,608), Mazatlán (+32.4%; +12,366), and Chihuahua (+16.0%; +10,517.)

International traffic increased in eight airports in January. Traffic increased most significantly in Durango (+72.8%; +1,344 passengers) and Zacatecas (+16.8%; +1,338).

The number of flight operations (takeoffs and landings) in January was essentially unchanged compared to the same month of 2015.  The number of domestic operations increased 1.0%, and international operations decreased 4.0%.
