Additional Invoker Panelists Announced for Brew Summit 2016

Event Focuses on Meaningful Conversations and Adventure at the Sea to Sky Gondola

/EINPresswire.com/ -- VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA -- (Marketwired) -- 02/11/16 -- Brew Summit, an event focused on mindfulness and movement in nature, has released names of additional Invoker panelists joining Kevin Newman and Masa Takei. This first-of-its-kind event will be an immersive day of invoking conversations and real "tell-it-like-it-is" feedback taking place at the Sea to Sky Gondola on Monday, April 18, 2016.

Brew Summit places an emphasis on dialogue over the traditional conference or presentation format and encourages mindful men to share thought-provoking ideas. Focusing on 'big conversations,' Brew Summit uses a distinct approach where everyone in the audience is a seeker and active participant in the discussion. Throughout the full day event, meaningful discussions will be interspersed with outdoor adventure experiences led by Wellmen.

Additional Invoker panelists announced today are as follows:

J.B. MacKinnon is an award winning Canadian author and journalist. His latest book, The Once and Future World: Nature As It Was, As It Is, As It Could Be, was a national bestseller and won the 2014 U.S. Green Prize for Sustainable Literature. His previous books include The 100-Mile Diet (with Alisa Smith), another bestseller and widely recognized as a catalyst of the local foods movement, and Dead Man in Paradise, which won Canada's highest prize for literary nonfiction. He also writes in the field of interactive documentaries, most notably for the NFB's Bear 71, which explored the intersection of the wired and wild worlds. As a journalist, MacKinnon has written for major outlets such as The New Yorker and National Geographic, as well as vanguard publications like Orion and Adbusters (where he is a contributing editor). He writes on ecology, consumerism, outdoor sports, and other topics. MacKinnon adds an adventurist flair and a deep-rooted sense of global responsibility to some big questions at Brew Summit.

Dr. John Oliffe is a Professor at the School of Nursing at the University of British Columbia. As the founder and lead investigator of UBC's Men's Health Research program, he focuses on masculinity as it influences men's health behaviors and illness management, and the related impact on partners, families and overall life quality. Findings drawn from his research offer guidance to clinicians and researchers to advance men's health promotion, specifically related to psychosocial prostate cancer care, smoking cessation and male depression suicide prevention. Dr. Oliffe brings a valuable clinical perspective to Brew Summit and the discussion around masculinity and mental health.

Jian Pablico is dedicated to cultivating strong communities through movement. He is a Professional Icebreaker, Strength and Conditioning Coach, brother, husband and proud father. Jian is co-owner of Distrikt Movement in North Vancouver, and founder and head coach of the Vars/ty Initiative. He is also a seasoned community facilitator; he has more than 15 years of experience with SafeTeen International, a renowned anti-violence prevention program that provides youth with tools to navigate their adolescence. Furthermore, Jian is the creator of Neonology, a program designed to create inclusive communities by tackling the issues of oppression, power, and privilege. At Brew Summit, Jian will highlight the impact of mobilizing communities to create positive change in men's lives.

Additional invokers will be announced in the coming weeks.
