The United Kingdom has begun offering the HPV vaccine to gay men to help protect against certain HPV caused cancers, which are seen more commonly in this community. (1) According to BBC News, “Expert advice has said vaccination can offer protection against other types of cancer commonly seen in gay men. An advisory committee also recommended it for sex workers and people who are HIV positive, but is still considering its merits for adolescent boys.” (1)

It is important to note that according to a recent study, “HPV infection is common and may cause cancer among men who have sex with men (MSM).” (2) In that study, anal HPV infection was found in 85% of HIV-positive and 59% of HIV-negative individuals. The CBCD recommends that individuals infected with HPV take Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin against the latent virus. The formula of these natural antiviral products was shown to reduce symptoms associated with HPV infection in two separate post-marketing clinical studies that followed FDA guidelines.

The formula of Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD. You also can develop symptoms years after you have sex with someone who is infected making it hard to know when you first became infected.” (4)

What Treatments are Available that Target HPV?

“There are no drugs approved against the HPV. Current treatments include procedures, such as cryotherapy, conization, and the Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP). These procedures use liquid nitrogen, a surgical knife (scalpel), a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser, or electrical current to remove the abnormal growths caused by the HPV. These growths include cells that harbor the active virus. The procedures do not target cells with the latent virus.
