Veterinary drug residue data for 2013 stable
With over one million samples from the 28 EU Member States, the latest EFSA report in an ongoing series summarises compliance rates with EU residue limits or targets for a range of veterinary medicines and contaminants.
The percentage of non-compliant samples at 0.31% was comparable to figures for the previous six years. There was slightly higher non-compliance for some veterinary medicines (stilbenes, antithyroid agents, beta‑agonists, carbamates and pyrethroids) as well as contaminants like metals and mycotoxins. A variety of others (anthelmintics, dyes, steroids, anticoccidials and sedatives) experienced minor falls or fewer occurrences of non-compliant samples.
