RE-Powering Electronic Decision Tree Tool
Date: 11/2/2015
As part of the RE-Powering America's Land initiative, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently released the RE-Powering Electronic Decision Tree Tool to guide interested parties through a process to screen sites for their suitability for solar photovoltaics or wind installations. The EPA encourages renewable energy on already developed or degraded land instead of green space. The tool addresses the following types of sites: potentially contaminated sites (e.g., Superfund, brownfield, mines); landfills; and underutilized sites (e.g., abandoned parcels and parking lots). To learn more about the tool, reference the EPA's fact sheet and the Midwest Wind Energy Center's webinar.
