  • Xcel Energy is breaking ground on its 200-MW Courtenay Wind Farm near Jamestown, North Dakota.
  • The first turbine in the 199-MW Ad Astra Wind Farm near Waverly, Kansas, was completely assembled. The project should be online by the end of the year.

  • RES America Developments Inc. received a contract for its 100-MW Ball Hill wind farm, to be built in Chautauqua County, New York. The contract was one of five selected through the state's 10th Renewable Portfolio Standard Main Tier solicitation.
  • The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) completed its environmental review and will now issue leases within three Wind Energy Areas off the North Carolina coast. The assessment found there would be no significant environmental or socioeconomic effects in the areas, which total about 307,590 acres.
  • BOEM announced that it will hold a commercial lease auction on November 9, 2015, for the Wind Energy Area offshore New Jersey.
  • Walmart announced it will purchase 58% of the energy produced by the 200-MW Logan's Gap Wind project in Comanche County, Texas. The retailer's goal is 100% renewable energy use; no deadline is specified.
