Synensis CEO Tapped to Keynote Inaugural WellStar Simulation Summit
Stephen Powell, CEO and President of Synensis, Will Share the Secrets to Building High-Reliability Teams at This One-Day Event on Saturday, November 7, in Atlanta
/EINPresswire.com/ -- ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwired - October 27, 2015) - Synensis CEO and President Stephen Powell will keynote the first-ever WellStar Simulation Summit, to be held on Saturday, November 7, at the WellStar Development Center in Atlanta, the company announced today. The title of Powell's keynote is "High-Reliability Teams and Simulation."
WellStar is an Atlanta-based health system that is on the leading edge of using simulation to optimize human performance. The organization has implemented a cutting edge program called Safety First, which has provided human error prevention training to the organization's more than 11,000 team members and 1,800 medical staff members and allied health professionals. WellStar's Advanced Patient Simulation Center is Georgia's first such center in a non-academic health system.
Powell is a recognized expert in the development of high-reliability organizations and high-reliability teams. He is a member of the development team that created the TeamSTEPPS teamwork and communication system for healthcare organizations, and he has supported the success of more than 500 organizations in 11 countries to improve patient safety, quality, and the patient experience by creating a culture of safety.
"The focus is to move organizations away from models that confine teams to specific departments or units in favor of a model that supports interdisciplinary, cross-functional teams that are better equipped to achieve breakthrough results," Powell said. "This is no small task, but one that every healthcare organization should undertake. This summit is an important step in that journey."
The Simulation Summit will focus on evidence-based approaches to conducting hospital simulation, as well as data to support the benefits of simulation use in training, competency validation, and enhancing patient safety. The event is free to WellStar team members, $55 for non-WellStar team members, and $35 for students.
