SFDF Launches Food Science Videos to Bring Lessons to Life
SFDF, Abertay University, Education Scotland, and the Scottish Schools Education Research Centre (SSERC) have worked in partnership to produce a set of innovative new classroom resources that directly supports the curriculum and helps learners and teachers to understand the application of chemistry in the food and drink industry.
There are six food science videos available for use in learning and teaching environments across Scotland that will help bring chemistry lessons to life using food as a context. These include Emulsions; Enzymic Browning; Maillard Reaction; Oxidative Rancidity; and Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC).
Thank you to member companies Ivan Wood and MacPhie of Glenbervie for providing an industry prospective on how science links to the real world of work. We hope these resources will inspire learners with an interest in science to consider a career in our exciting industry.
The videos are available on SFDF's website and YouTube channel.
