October 2015 - Real Salt Lake (RSL), a Utah-based Major League Soccer team, has announced the installation of nearly 6,500 solar panels at Rio Tinto Stadium, which is the home to both Real Salt Lake and the Real Monarchs soccer teams. Together with Utah-based solar developer Auric Solar, RSL will develop a 2,020-kilowatt system installed on the existing stadium structure as well as the parking areas. The solar project is expected to offset 73 percent of the stadium's annual power needs while saving RSL between $300,000 to $350,000 per year and as much as $4 million over the next 10 years.
