Gazprom and Siemens address prospects for cooperation within Nord Stream II
St. Petersburg hosted today a working meeting between Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee and Joe Kaesar, President and Chief Executive Officer of Siemens.
The parties addressed the prospects for cooperation, in particular, the procurement of equipment and technologies within the Nord Stream II project.
Background
Siemens is a major manufacturer of electronics and electric tools. The company entered into the Russian market in 1853.
Gazprom and Siemens are promoting the cooperation in the following areas: automation; telemechanics; power generation; compressor station equipment; oil and gas field development technologies; energy saving and environmental protection.
On September 4, 2015 Gazprom, E.ON, Shell, OMV, BASF and ENGIE signed the Shareholders Agreement to construct the Nord Stream II gas pipeline with the annual capacity of 55 billion cubic meters of gas, to be laid from Russia to Germany across the Baltic Sea.
