July 2015 - In order to make more renewable energy available to its customers, the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) has agreed to purchase additional wind energy, wind capacity and renewable energy credits (RECs) under a purchase power agreement (PPA) with Buckthorn Wind Project LLC. The Buckthorn Wind Project, owned by Infinity Wind Power, will produce an estimated 96.6 megawatts (MW) of electricity in the Electric Reliability Council of Texas' northern area, which is expected to be operational in fall 2016. Prior to this deal, LCRA had purchased wind capacity from providers in West Texas and near the Texas Gulf Coast.
