Washington D.C. Signs 20-Year PPA for 35% Wind Power
July 2015 - District of Columbia (D.C.) has finalized a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Iberdrola Renewables for the entire output of the Iberdrola's South Chestnut 46-megawatt (MW) wind farm in Pennsylvania. The 20-year PPA is expected to supply the city with 125,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) annually and save District residents $45 million over the next two decades. The District has a goal of using renewables to satisfy 50 percent of its energy supply by 2032 and this deal is anticipated to help the government reach 35 percent renewable consumption.
