Industry welcomes long term strategy for UK food and farming

“FDF welcomes the development of an industry-lead 25-year plan for the future of food and farming, following our attendance at today's development session with Defra, manufacturers and other key stakeholders. The outcomes of the session reflect FDF's priorities in working with Government to boost our competitiveness, increase and improve skills, develop research and innovation and maintain a resilient supply chain of safe, affordable and nutritious food.
“Our industry has a good story to tell in terms of productivity, with over 10% productivity growth over the last five years from engagement in product innovation, advancement of manufacturing technologies and the cutting down of waste.
“FDF's 20/20 Vision for Growth is our industry's high level vision and the introduction of any formal strategy across the whole food supply chain would only compliment this work further, taking it forward and ensuring that we are successful.”
