Speech: European Trade Policy Day

Commissioner Cecilia Malmström is today hosting a major conference in Brussels on the future of EU trade policy. The conference brings together representatives from all across the political spectrum and from all parts of civil society.
It is part of the Commission's preparation for a new communication outlining an updated trade strategy due out this autumn. Opening the conference, the Commissioner outlined her view of political, economic, technological and policy changes that necessitated a renewed approach. She also gave an indication of some of the actions she wants to see addressed in the communication and called on all stakeholders to stay engaged.
