Drilling of oil production wells starts in Chayandinskoye field

May 8, 2015, 12:15

The drilling of production wells for the pilot commercial development of the oil rim started in the Chayandinskoye field in Yakutia, the basic field of the Yakutia gas production center.

Pilot commercial development is a crucial stage preceding the commercial operation of a field. As part of this stage geophysical, production and other properties of a pay zone will be determined and the selected technical solutions will be assessed.

At present, three production wells are being drilled in the Chayandinskoye field. All in all, 11 production wells will be drilled during pilot commercial development of the oil rim.

Later on, Gazprom will set to constructing production wells to develop gas deposits of the Chayandinskoye field.

Background

The state-run Eastern Gas Program was approved in September 2007. Gazprom was appointed by the Russian Government as the Program execution coordinator. The new gas production centers in Sakhalin and Kamchatka are ready to operate, the Yakutia gas production center is being rapidly developed and the Irkutsk and Krasnoyarsk centers are next in turn in Eastern Russia.

The Chayandinskoye oil, gas and condensate field is unique in terms of its reserves. At present, the C1+C2 recoverable reserves total some 1.45 trillion cubic meters of gas and 89.7 million tons of liquid hydrocarbons (recoverable). At full capacity the field will annually produce up to 25 billion cubic meters of gas and no less than 1.5 million tons of oil. The start of gas production is scheduled for late 2018.

The Chayandinskoye field will become one of the main gas sources for the Power of Siberia gas trunkline, which will deliver gas from the Irkutsk and Yakutia production centers to the Far East and China.

It is planned to deliver oil from the Chayandinskoye field to the Eastern Siberia – Pacific Ocean oil pipeline once commercial production is launched.
