SMITHTOWN, NY, UNITED STATES, March 10, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Listening to well-crafted stories has a powerful effect on our sense of social connection, particularly on the tendency to give more generously to others, according to research out of the Center for Neuroeconomics Studies at Claremont Graduate University. This is a very positive side effect of what has become one of the fastest-growing and popular forms of entertainment today. (mostly) TRUE THINGS is Long Island's local version of the storytelling show and features 4 true stories, 3 of which include little white lies or carefully-crafted fabrications woven into the narrative. The audience has an opportunity to question the storytellers about the details in the stories, then votes. Audience members who correctly choose the whole-truth teller get a prize, then the truth about each story is revealed.

Former New York City Police Officer Regina Pasqualino, Acupuncturist Christie Harrington, Trainer and Therapist Nancy Losinno, and Actress/Teacher Terry Morrissey are the line-up of storytellers in the March 21, 2015 performance at the Performing Arts Studio of New York, 224 E.Main St., Port Jefferson, NY 11777 at 7 pm. Tickets are $10. Buy online at EventBrite, or reserve seats by phone: 631-366-4265 or email: bookings@lifestage.org.
