True Stories With A Twist, Comedy and Music Create An Unusual Evening Of Entertainment On Long Island
(mostly) TRUE THINGS features true stories told without notes, but 3 include little white lies. The whole truth comes out by the end with the audience's help.
Host and creator Jude Treder-Wolff is a writer/performer whose original solo show Crazytown: my first psychopath told the story of her encounter with a manipulative, deceptive person while working in psychiatry early in her career as a creative arts psychotherapist. Crazytown was selected for the 2013 Midtown International Theater Festival, the 2012 Chicago and San Francisco Fringe Festivals, had 2 successful runs at Actors Theatre Workshop in New York and was performed at The Peoples Improv Theater, The Charles B Wang Center at Stonybrook University and The Conservatory NJ in Trenton, NJ. Treder-Wolff is also a singer/songwrite who co-wrote and performs a theme song for (mostly) TRUE THINGS as well as other songs for musical comedy throughout the evening. She is President of Lifestage, Inc which produces the storytelling shows and other art-based events in the community.
Local storytelling shows feature stories about our neighbors, our co-workers, our kids and our towns, stories about life-changing moments that can be hilarious and heart-breaking. Sharing stories is powerful for both storytellers and listeners, and is a way to enhance social connections and build community. Storytelling shows are one of the fastest-growing and popular forms of entertainment today. Podcasts based on true stories - like The Moth, RISK!, This American Life and others - are among the most popular choices on ITunes, generating millions of downloads from around the world.
