Ventura's Lie About Being a SEAL Brought Him Face to Face With Chris Kyle.

Ventura lied about being a SEAL, defrauded Minnesotans to become Governor, and defrauded the SEALS to be welcomed into their midst.

MINNEAPOLIS, MN, UNITED STATES, January 22, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Leading up to the 1998 election for Minnesota Governor, the Minnesota and national media falsely reported that Jesse Ventura was a former Navy SEAL. Ventura stole the valor of others and used his false SEAL bravado to become Governor.
Election experts agree that it was Ventura's SEAL persona (unearned) that gave him the margin of victory to win the Governor's office by a very slim margin over Republican Norm Coleman.
On October 31, 1998, a few days before the Minnesota election, the New York Times reported that, "Mr. Ventura, a former Navy Seal demolition expert who has shown up at candidate forums in camouflage..."
Pam Belluck, the author of the Times story, had no proof of Ventura's military claims. She must have simply been parroting others.
In the same article Ms. Belluck furthers the Ventura SEAL myth by quoting Ventura, "I'm a warrior at heart, I'm an ex-Navy Seal."
Jesse Ventura was never a Navy SEAL yet for months in 1998 he appeared on the campaign trail in camouflage, or other SEAL regalia, to give the false impression that he was a SEAL who served in combat in Vietnam. Both items are untrue.
Who cares if he was a SEAL or not? Why is it important?
It's important for two reasons and then the important conclusion:
1. Ventura defrauded the people of Minnesota to become Governor through his SEAL deceit. Experts agree that without his SEAL bravado Ventura would not have become Governor.
2. Ventura defrauded the SEALS also. Many SEALS thought he was one of their own who became a Governor and they invited him inside the SEAL arena. In November 1998 when Ventura was elected Governor not many people knew he wasn't a SEAL. But former SEAL Commander Bill Salisbury knew it and he wrote about it for a San Diego newspaper explaining the difference between SEALS and what Ventura was. Also, 1st Sergeant Dick Franson (U.S. Army retired) knew it and he was quoted in the Globe newspaper in December 1998. And when I learned about it I included a chapter in my book, "Always Cheat" http://jesse.ventura.tripod.com/
Yet the media at large from Larry King to the Associated Press, and beyond, perpetuated the Ventura SEAL myth because they couldn't turn back. They only turned back from the Ventura "former Navy SEAL" lie in the past months.
Ventura left the Navy twenty five years before becoming Governor so the SEAL community at large didn't know he wasn't a SEAL. Those who knew the truth played along with the farce because it made them look good.
In Chris Kyle's deposition it's clear he didn't know Ventura was not a SEAL.
CONCLUSION:
Jesse Ventura deceived and defrauded the people of Minnesota to win the election for Governor.
Ventura deceived and defrauded the SEALS to be invited to be a speaker at their coveted private events.
It's Ventura's lie that he was a Navy SEAL that led to the events with Chris Kyle.
Had Ventura not lied about being a Navy SEAL, Chris Kyle likely never would have heard of him.
Whatever Chris Kyle said, or didn't say, is irrelevant because it all stems from Ventura's lies.
Last fall Larry King asked Ventura, "you were a Navy SEAL?" Ventura replied "Frogman". A BIG DIFFERENCE.
Jesse Ventura should not be allowed to collect money from the Kyle's because they likely never would have known who he was if he didn't lie about being a Navy SEAL.
