Low-calorie diets: EFSA updates nutrition advice
Low-calorie weight-loss products should have a minimum energy content of 6oo kcal a day, EFSA has proposed. The recommendation is part of the Authority’s Scientific Opinion on essential energy and nutrient requirements for total diet replacements for weight control.
Total diet replacements for weight control are specially formulated products which replace the whole daily diet. The opinion also advises on potential conditions and restrictions of use for these products.
