DSME sets to unveil a new concept of floating power plant named FSPP during the Power-Gen International in December
FSPP is a gas-fired power plant and an LNG import terminal combined into one unit. Inside are LNG storage tanks and regasification facilities, and regasified natural gas from its own facilities is utilized for its electricity power generation. Moreover, FSPP can directly supply its regasified gas to the designated on-land infrastructures, such as natural gas pipelines or adjacent onshore plants.
Additionally, FSPP can be a solution for areas where local infrastructures are not sufficient to utilize natural gas as a power generation fuel. Major functions of a gas-fired power plant are onboard, so required land acquisition is at a minimum compared to an onshore power plant. This means developers can mitigate project risk by reducing a potential claims from local communities and avoiding hard negotiation with land owners.
DSME will also display another floating power solution: Barge Mounted Power Plants (BMPP). Also known as Power Barge, it can generate power from different fuel resources, such as natural gas, diesel oil and coal.
Those who are interested in DSME’s floating power plants are kindly encouraged to visit our booth No. 4059 at Power-Gen International. There is a mockup of a 200MW combined cycle FSPP and a video clip presentation with more detailed information.
DSME says, “Although we are not well known in power industry currently, we have a clear vision to position ourselves as a top-tier EPC contractor in the area of floating power plant.”
Power-Gen International is one of the biggest exhibition & conference in power industry and will be held this year in Orlando, USA during December 7-11.
