GSA Signs PPA for 140 MW Wind Energy

October 2014 - The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA)to purchase 140 MW of wind energy from MG2 Tribal Energy to meet the Administration's 2020 renewable energy goal. The energy will come from the 225 MW Walnut Ridge Wind Farm in northwestern Illinois, and will produce more than 500,000 MWh of electricity annually. The PPA is expected to bring approximately $ 47 million of direct economic impact to the local area over 20 years and is estimated to eliminate 499,973 metric tons of CO2; equivalent emissions annually. The PPA comes from a public Request for Proposal process through the GSA and marks the largest Federal Government wind energy contract signed in U.S. history.
