UPDATE: Custom Exempt Processing Status Returned to PBR Custom Meat Processing in Smithton, Mo.

The Missouri Department of Agriculture's Meat and Poultry Inspection Program has reinstated custom exempt processing operations at PBR Meat Processing Plant in Smithton, Mo. following a satisfactory inspection yesterday. The business' custom processing exemption had been suspended due to sanitation issues on Oct. 24, 2014.
The business' permits were reinstated yesterday, following a satisfactory inspection, which was conducted at the business owner's request.
Facilities operating under a custom processing exemption, such as PBR Custom Meat Processing, are not allowed to sell meat to the public. Custom exempt processing is completed for livestock owners for their own consumption. All custom exempt packaging is specially marked not for sale.
