Honda Rearview Report: October 4 - October 10, 2014
"Last year, Honda and SolarCity created a unique partnership with $65 million in funding aimed at making the adoption of renewable solar energy more attractive and feasible for Honda and Acura customers, dealers and other environmentally conscience consumers. Typically, this enables customers to install solar power with little or no money out of pocket and makes it possible for many homeowners to pay less for solar electricity than they pay for electricity from utilities.
Through this investment and additional projects, our partnership resulted in the deployment of 12.5 megawatts of solar power capacity on more than 1,000 rooftops, which we calculate will offset more than 400 million pounds of CO2 over a 30-year lifecycle.
Building on our success, this week at the SXSW Eco conference in Austin, TX, we announced a new $50 million fund that will make solar power affordable for thousands more Honda and Acura customers, as well as for our own associates.
This program is part and parcel of Honda's long-term vision for zero-emissions living and mobility, and our effort to create new business opportunities through more environmentally responsible products and technologies. We're hopeful this new phase of our partnership with SolarCity will enable our customers to pursue their own dreams for a low carbon, sustainable future."
