Utility Analytics Course Offered at the University of Denver
DU’s University College offers course geared for utility companies using data analytics
DENVER, COLORADO, UNITED STATES, August 18, 2014 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The rise of data analytics and big data has led to the development of a new course at the University of Denver entitled “Utility Analytics,” which explores how utility companies can and do use data analytics in an era of sustainability and energy conservation. In order to effectively manage engineering, customer relationships, and demand-side management functions, businesses need to embrace data and leverage it to their benefit. This course focuses on analytics applications in electric power companies, as well as natural gas, water, and wastewater management settings.Taught by Don McCubbrey, clinical professor in the Department of Business Information and Analytics at Daniels College of Business, the course covers how to use big data in ways that provide business value. McCubbrey has served as director of the Colorado Addvanced Software Institute, was co-founder of the Colorado Technology Association, and served as director of the Center for the Study of Electronic Commerce.
The Utility Analytics course has a managerial focus rather than a technical focus. It is designed to provide managers with sufficient background on the potential value of data analytics, the business process change associated with data analytics, and the underlying technologies to enable them to interface effectively with data scientists.
The 10-week online course begins Monday, September 8 and is offered at the University
of Denver’s college of professional and continuing studies, University College. To register for the course, visit universitycollege.du.edu or call the Student Support Center at 303-871-2291. Those interested in this course do not need formal admission to the University of Denver.
