Georgia Native Joins Marietta Plastic Surgery Practice as Surgeon

Plastic Surgery Center of the South expands by adding Dr. Corey Harkins to its trio of board-certified plastic surgeons in Marietta, Georgia.

MARIETTA, GA, USA, August 2, 2014 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The team at Plastic Surgery Center of the South (www.plasticsurgerycenterofthesouth.net) is adding a fourth doctor to its trio of plastic surgeons in Marietta, Georgia who have built the practice into a leading cosmetic surgery center in the southern U.S.

Dr. Corey Harkins completed his plastic surgery residency at the University of South Florida after earning his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 2008. He graduated magna cum laude from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Science degree.

"We're thrilled that Dr. Harkins is joining the Plastic Surgery Center of the South and are looking forward to having him become an integral part of our team," says Dr. E. Anthony Musarra II, who also earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia.

Dr. Harkins is returning to some familiar stomping grounds by joining Plastic Surgery Center of the South. He grew up in nearby East Cobb and played football for Walton High School, less than 10 miles from the offices.

"I'm excited to join a practice that's so respected for its active role in the community of Marietta and for its cosmetic surgery results," Dr. Harkins says. "The surgeons who established this practice demonstrate a commitment to patient care and a passion for aesthetics that explain why they enjoy such stellar reputations among both patients and peers."

In addition to the 3 board-certified plastic surgeons at the practice, the facilities at Plastic Surgery Center of the South include 2 state-certified operating suites, medical exam rooms, and recovery areas.

Dr. Harkins' training includes work at Duke University Medical Center's division of plastic and reconstructive surgery and the Center for Microsurgical Training at Indiana University Medical Center.

Dr. James E. Leake, a partner in the Plastic Surgery Center of the South with more than 29 years of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery experience, says Dr. Harkins' elite education and training will immediately benefit patients at the practice.

"His background and achievements are impressive," Dr. Leake says. "He's a well-rounded person whose training and education will help him hit the ground running at our practice."

The fact that Dr. Harkins grew up nearby is also an advantage for the practice, says Dr. Michael Petrosky.

"His familiarity with the community and the surrounding area helps establish a personal connection with our patients," Dr. Petrosky says.

Dr. Harkins lives in the area with his wife, Dr. Shanil Harkins, a gastroenterologist whom he met at the University of South Florida.

Plastic Surgery Center of the South (www.plasticsurgerycenterofthesouth.net) is in Marietta, GA, only minutes away from Atlanta and many of its suburbs. The practice's 4 plastic surgeons have more than 70 years of combined surgical experience. Most of the cosmetic surgery procedures they offer are performed at the practice's state-of-the-art outpatient surgical facility, which offers the latest safety innovations and modern comforts. The surgeons also retain staff privileges at nearby Wellstar Kennestone Hospital and Marietta Surgical Center for more extensive cosmetic or reconstructive surgeries.
