Dominion Virginia Leases a Prologis Distribution Center's Rooftop for PV Array

July 2014 - Dominion Virginia Power plans to install more than 3,000 solar panels capable of generating more than 800 kilowatts (kW) of electricity at Prologis Inc.'s, a developer and operator of industrial real estate, Concorde Distribution Center in Sterling, VA. The panels will be installed on the rooftops of two adjacent buildings on the site and will cover nearly 102,000 square feet. The project is part of Dominion's Solar Partnership Program in which companies lease rooftop or ground space at commercial, industrial or public facilities for the installation of solar panels. The electricity generated from the solar project will flow to the electric grid for use by Dominion Virginia Power customers. PowerSecure, a North Carolina-based company, has been selected as the engineering, procurement and construction company. Construction is expected to commence in July and the panels are expected to be operational in October 2014.

In December 2013, Dominion Virginia Power also installed a 500-kW photovoltaic system on the rooftop of Canon Virginia's Industrial Resource Technologies facility in Gloucester.
