DOE Selects Contractor for California Energy Technology Engineering Center Cleanup
Cincinnati - The Department of Energy (DOE) today awarded a competitive $25.7 million task order for cleanup activities at the Energy Technology Engineering Center (ETEC) to North Wind of Idaho Falls, Idaho. ETEC is located at the Santa Susanna Field Laboratory in Canoga Park, California.
The task order has a three-year base period with an additional two-year option. This award is a fixed price small business set-aside, part of the DOE Office of Environmental Management Nationwide Multiple Indefinite Delivery/Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) Small Business Set-aside contracts. North Wind will be responsible for environmental remediation services; deactivation and decommissioning; removal of contaminated facilities; waste management services, and regulatory services.
ETEC’s historic mission involved nuclear research and development for the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission, a predecessor to DOE. In the mid-1950s, a part of SSFL was set aside for nuclear reactor development and testing, related to the development of nuclear power and space power systems.
