PotashCorp Supports Creative Kids Saskatchewan for Third Year

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – On Saturday evening, at the RCMP Charity Gala in support of Creative Kids, PotashCorp announced its third consecutive $100,000 contribution to Creative Kids.

Creative Kids – a SaskCulture program – works to help families enroll their children in arts and cultural activities regardless of financial or social barriers. As part of its community investment, PotashCorp has partnered with the organization since 2012 to support programs throughout the province.

“As a company, we appreciate that building healthy, culturally vibrant communities starts by giving young people opportunities. By exploring their creative talents through music, dance, art and self-expression, Creative Kids provides children with the right opportunity for each child,” said Lee Knafelc, PotashCorp’s Vice President, Human Resources and Administration. “We also know that children who become active in arts and culture do better in other subjects at school as they gain confidence and transferrable skills. At PotashCorp, we strive to make the communities where we operate a better place for everyone – and that includes the youngest among us.”

As the number of applications for the program continues to increase, financial support is imperative, explained Christie Nenson, Fund Development at Creative Kids Saskatchewan. Since SaskCulture covers all administrative costs for the organization, 100 percent of donations go directly to supporting children.

“We are so thrilled that PotashCorp has chosen to partner with Creative Kids for the third year in a row. The funding provided has enabled us to support hundreds of deserving Saskatchewan kids who just want a chance to participate in arts and culture activities in their own communities. PotashCorp has opened up so many opportunities for these children, and we are forever grateful for the continued support,” said Nenson.

As the world’s largest crop nutrient company, PotashCorp plays an integral role in global food production. The company produces the three essential nutrients required to help farmers grow healthier, more abundant crops. With global populations rising and diets improving in developing countries, crop nutrients such as potash, phosphates and nitrogen offer a responsible and practical solution to help produce the food we need, from the land we have.
