Progress on Culzean Project Welcomed by Oil & Gas UK
Oil & Gas UK’s operations director, Oonagh Werngren, commenting on Maersk Oil North Sea UK’s Culzean project said: “It is very good news to hear that Maersk Oil UK has achieved significant progress on the Culzean project by awarding a £3 billion contract for front end engineering (FEED) of a new offshore platform to a UK contractor, KBR. The Culzean gas field is a prime example of the type of ultra-High Pressure High Temperature (uHPHT) project which will benefit from the new HPHT field allowance proposed by the UK Government, which will enable operators to realise the potential of other prospects with similar technical challenges.
The uHPHT field allowance also provides the focus for Oil & Gas UK’s forthcoming breakfast briefing on June 3, at which TOTAL E&P UK, Maersk Oil North Sea UK and BG Group will be covering a range of topics including the challenges and successes associated with uHPHT developments including the impact of the new field allowance on future production and its contribution to stimulating exploration and development in new areas.
Places at the event can be booked here.
A limited number of free places at the breakfast are available to media. Please contact lgordon@oilandgasuk.co.uk to request a place.
