Sonoma County Participates in California's Community Choice Aggregation Program

On May 1, 2014, Sonoma County officials and participating cities launched Sonoma Clean Power, a public power program that presents an alternative to Pacific Gas Electric Co. (PGE) because it relies on a greater amount of renewable energy. Sonoma Clean Power's customers are expected to realize a 4 to 5% savings in electricity charges, or a total of $6 million in savings, in the first year. Sonoma Clean Power's renewable portfolio consists of 33 percent of its power obtained from renewable sources that include wind, solar, geothermal, and renewable energy certificates.
