PotashCorp Awarded 2013 John T. Ryan National Safety Trophy
Sussex, New Brunswick – Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (PotashCorp) is proud to announce that the company’s New Brunswick Division has been awarded the 2013 John T. Ryan National Safety Trophy for Select Mines.
The Award was presented to representatives of the company at the Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum (CIM) 116th Convention Awards Dinner and Gala on May 12, 2014 in Vancouver, British Columbia.
The John T. Ryan Award is the most prestigious safety award in the Canadian mining industry and this is the fifth time that PotashCorp’s New Brunswick Division has been recognized. The facility also won in 2003, 2005, 2008 and 2012.
“Winning this award is an accomplishment that all PotashCorp employees can be extremely proud of. It takes real teamwork among employees, leaders, the Occupational Health & Safety Committees, the SCORE (Sussex Concentrates on Reducing Exposures) Steering Committee and observers to ensure everyone at our mines goes home safely each day,” said Michael Hogan, President of PCS Potash.
The John T. Ryan award has been given each year since 1941 and honors continuous improvement in Canadian mine safety.
As the world’s largest crop nutrient company, PotashCorp plays an integral role in global food production. The company produces the three essential nutrients required to help farmers grow healthier, more abundant crops. With global populations rising and diets improving in developing countries, crop nutrients such as potash, phosphates and nitrogen offer a responsible and practical solution to help produce the food we need, from the land we have. In operation since 1983, the New Brunswick facility is one of our six potash mines in Canada.
