Instead of helping lift families out of poverty, Michigan’s Sen. Rick Jones has introduced a bill that lowers the boom on workers struggling to make ends meet. The bill that Jones wants workers to accept would give 10 cents more an hour to workers living off tipped wages. A full-time waitress making this “improved” wage of $2.65 per hour would only see an additional $4 per week. It is unfair and insulting.

Michigan families do not deserve this outrageous attempt to appease special interests at the expense of families and communities.
