The Food Marketing Institute (FMI) today announces the headliner for its innovation track at FMI Connect, the new, annual FMI Show. Mattson, the country's largest independent developer of new foods and beverages, will present a dynamic, multi-media session that will evoke the imagination around the ever-frustrating consumer conundrum, "What’s for dinner?"

The Mattson session on June 12, "Reinventing Weeknight Dinner with Retail Food Innovation," will explore some of the food world’s most unique upstarts. Among them, Mattson will feature a chilled meal provider that delivers within hours of ordering; a consumer-centric view of Amazon's fresh food program; and a flash-food-court on wheels. Mattson will leverage its client work experience in order to demonstrate how subscription services could change the way people shop and how different food forms could — and do — change the way consumers eat.

Mattson CEO Steve Gundrum offered, "My title is more appropriately the Design Executive Officer for Mattson; my role is to predict the intersection among packaged foods, supermarkets and restaurants and how companies are bridging culinary quality through innovation.

"Consumers are demanding higher quality and value with each eating experience, so we’ll push retailers at this FMI Connect General Session to re-think what they should be delivering to the consumer," Gundrum noted.

Barb Stuckey, executive vice president, marketing and sales for Mattson, emphasized that their presentation will literally demo what's new, what's working, what's not, and how food companies can apply the best elements of each to energize their business. She said, "Innovation in products, store formats, business processes and ways of interacting with consumers often make the difference at the point of purchase, so our goal at FMI Connect is to whet the audience’s appetite to mirror shoppers’ desires."
