The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Indian Energy, the DOE Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy's Tribal Energy Program, and the Western Area Power Administration (Western) will present the next Tribal Renewable Energy Series webinar, Renewable Energy Project Development and Finance Framework: The Five Step Process, on April 2, 2014, from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Mountain time.

DOE Office of Indian Energy Deputy Director Pilar Thomas will introduce the five key steps of the energy project development framework developed by the DOE Office of Indian Energy and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory to help guide Tribes on the path toward successful tribal renewable energy project development. The steps are: 1) Understanding Project Savings and Production Potential, 2) Project Options, 3) Project Refinement, 4) Project Implementation, and 5) Project Operations and Maintenance.

“The tribal energy project development process incorporates key decision points, risk-reward analysis frameworks, and market-based technology and financing considerations—all designed to support tribal leaders and their professional staffs as they consider next steps and weigh decisions for their communities,” said Thomas. “This is part of a broader education and capacity building effort our office is leading to help move tribal energy projects toward implementation.”

Attendees will have an opportunity to ask the presenters questions during a brief QA session at the end of the webinar.
