In the frame of King Mohammed VI’s visit to Mali , the weekly french newspaper ”Journal du Dimanche” (JDD), published on Sunday an editorial analysis on Morocco which presented the monarch as an emerging key player in Africa’s geopolitical affairs.

”The African tour of King Mohammed VI is the opportunity to see the prominent place now occupied by Morocco on the continent both economically and diplomatically,” said the editor of JDD.

With a solid growth under 5% in 2014 , Morocco is trying to be one of the main vectors of African development in all areas (banks, mines , telecommunications , insurance … ) added the french news paper.

JDD also stressed the military and logistical support provided by Morocco alongside France to manage the crisis not only in Mali but also in Central Africa and recalled the invitation addressed by President Obama to the Moroccan monarch to take part the next summer at the first U.S Africa Summit.

The editorial also raised Morocco’s desire to play a role alongside the United States in the Arab-Israeli peace process.
