Phoenix, AZ - (NewMediaWire) - February 12, 2014 - The Food and Drug Administration today announced that IMBRUVICA™, a cancer medication originally indicated for the treatment of patients with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) who have received at least one prior therapy, is now approved for use in patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) who have received at least one prior therapy.  As one of only five specialty pharmacies authorized to dispense IMBRUVICA, Avella is prepared to meet an increase in demand for the medication.  According to the American Cancer Society, CLL accounts for about one-third of all new cases of leukemia.
