Alexey Miller: Gazprom is ready for the Olympics!

January 17, 2014, 15:55

The Seversky District (Krasnodar Territory) hosted today celebrations dedicated to the additional capacities commissioning at the Krasnodarskaya compressor station (CS).

Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Gazprom Management Committee, Alexander Tkachev, Head of the Krasnodar Territory Administration as well as top executives of Gazprom's specialized structural units and its subsidiaries took part in the events.

The additional capacities enhance the Krasnodarskaya CS daily output from 50 to 73.2 million cubic meters of gas through the second stage construction of the gas treatment unit and raising the power of two out of five gas compressor units by 8 MW (from 24 to 32 MW), resulting in the CS aggregate power increase to 68 MW. The CS features domestic and foreign innovative technologies and equipment. The additional capacities will be subsequently used for supplying natural gas to the Black Sea coast (Krasnodar Territory).

“Today we've brought onstream additional capacities at the Krasnodarskaya CS, thus ensuring the maximum load of two major gas pipelines at a time, namely Blue Stream running from Russia to Turkey and Dzhubga – Lazarevskoye – Sochi – our project for the Olympics.

So, I may say that Gazprom has undoubtedly completed its investment program for the Olympic Games. All the necessary infrastructure – power generating facilities and sports venues – is built. Gazprom is ready for the Olympics!

I wish the Russian Olympic team get impressive victories and bring on new Olympic records,” said Alexey Miller.

Background

The Krasnodarskaya compressor station (CS) was commissioned in 2002 to provide natural gas transmission via the Blue Stream gas pipeline. Moreover, the CS has been feeding the Dzhubga – Lazarevskoye – Sochi gas pipeline since its completion.

The Krasnodarskaya CS is equipped with five gas compressor units (GCU) and a gas treatment unit (GTU) designed for treating and dehydrating natural gas prior to feeding the offshore gas pipeline.

A new domestic technology, which allows for reduction of time and power consumed for recovering a special agent, i.e. adsorbent which is contained in gas dehydration units (adsorbers), was applied during the second stage construction of the GTU at the Krasnodarskaya CS. This technology enabled to reduce the number of adsorbers from six (provided by the typical arrangement) to five during the second stage construction, not impairing the quality of the gas dehydration process and the unit output.
