Gazprom’s delegation taking part in APEC Summit in Indonesia

October 8, 2013, 15:09

Led by Alexey Miller, Chairman of the Management Committee, Gazprom's delegation is taking part in the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit in Indonesia.

The Indonesian gas industry is characterized by increasing indigenous consumption and declining exports of LNG to foreign markets. In 2012 LNG exports decreased by 14 per cent to 18.97 million tons. The Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas Business Activities under the Government of Indonesia (SK Migas) predicts a fall in exports by another 13.8 per cent in the current year.

Indonesia's first receiving terminal – a floating platform in the eastern part of Java Island – was put into operation in 2012. Two more receiving terminals are under construction. One of the three operating LNG plants – the Arun plant – is being converted into a re-gasification terminal.

In 2013 a total of 32 LNG cargoes were sold in the domestic market, while in 2012 – 14. The bulk of LNG from the Indonesian LNG plants currently under construction will be mainly supplied to meet domestic demand.
