September 2013 PSERC Webinars

The DOE-funded Power Systems Engineering Research Center (PSERC) is offering two free public webinars in September. The webinars are free and no pre-registration is necessary. For more information and details on logging into the webinar, please visit PSERC's website or click the links below for each webinar.

Tuesday, September 3 from 2 - 3 pm ET: Grid-Scale Energy Storage This webinar will provide an overview of the current status of grid-scale energy storage technologies and their many applications in power systems. The main focus will be on the bulk energy storage systems and their applications in the transmission grid. Vladimir Koritarov, Deputy Director for the Center for Energy, Environmental, and Economic System Analysis at Argonne National Laboratory, will be presenting.

Tuesday, September 17 from 2 - 3 pm ET: Measurement-Based Estimation of Linear Sensitivity Distribution Factors and Applications This webinar will discuss a method to compute linear sensitivity distribution factors (DFs) in near real-time. The proposed measurement-based approach provides more accurate results than the model-based approximations and can adapt to unexpected system topology and operating point changes. Alejandro Dominguez-Garcia, Assistant Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at the University of Illinois, Urbana, will be presenting.
