Hungary Repays Early its Outstanding Obligations to the IMF
Hungary today repaid, ahead of schedule, obligations to the IMF amounting to SDR 1.88 billion (about US$2.85 billion).
This repayment completes the repayment of the SDR 7.64 billion (about US$11.6 billion) which Hungary had borrowed from the IMF during 2008-09 under its Stand-By Arrangement (see Press Release 08/275). The amounts repaid early are obligations falling due in 2013 and 2014 under the original repayment schedule.
